Our Objectives

EAHA aims to ensure everyone with low to moderate incomes in the region can access safe, secure and affordable housing.

In Melbourne’s eastern region accessing both social and affordable is a growing challenge requiring urgent attention.

Decades of under-investment have led to the demand for social housing outstripping supply by almost 50% in 2021.

At the same time, access to affordable rentals has decreased by more than 25% over the past 10 years. These trends are forecast to continue, meaning that at least 1,170 affordable homes will be required every year over the next 10 years to address this gap.

How we work

Acknowledging that housing affordability is a growing problem not only in the eastern region of Melbourne but Australia-wide, EAHA advocates for increased investment by government and non-government stakeholders in social and affordable housing
